PHIELD TEK is a dedicated soil nutrient mapping service using GPS technology for precision soil sampling. The brand name of PHIELD TEK is not a case of poor spelling but emphasises the importance of soil reserves for P – Phosphate, K – Potash and pH – Lime.
Mg – Magnesium levels are also tested for, but there was a limit to how many letters we could incorporate in one name!

Nutrient levels in the soil can vary dramatically across a single field and with standard analysis sampling techniques the grower will only receive a very limited picture of a field’s actual fertility.

Using the PHIELD TEK GPS Nutrient Mapping service could mean that blanket applications of fertilisers are a thing of the past. Site specific sampling creates individual nutrient maps for Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium and Lime for every field that is sampled. Detailed nutrient management plans accompany the maps so that the tailored fertiliser recommendations can be applied to the soil accordingly. Spreading data can then be supplied in a digital format for farmers or contractors using Variable Rate Application (VRA) technology. Alternatively, accurate spreading maps can be created for growers who wish to vary their spreading applications without the use of GPS or VRA.
